Sewing for Friends

One of our new year's goals is to attempt to make all of our friend's and family's birthday presents. We recently spent the day making a "Cool Cat" or cheetah.

This was really William's project and he wanted very little help from me or Landon.


Landon wanted to watch and really wanted to help.Finally, William decided that the stuffing needed a few extra hands.


Ta da! William was so very proud of himself and has tons of ideas for more gifts to come.

Graphing

We have been discussing animal habitats lately and did an activity where we used animal crackers to graph the correct habitats of the animals. Then of course we got to eat them.

Once we finished that graph William wanted to graph some more.....


He was so great to let Landon help.

Cooking

The boys awoke ready to make breakfast. William made the eggs,
with cooked apples- which they add cinnamon and maple syrup.


Landon was assistant chef whowarmed up muffins and
cut apples.
I certainly get fed some good food.

Conquering the Mountain

Today was awesome. I took the boys skiing by myself. We went locally- (an hour and 1/2).

We had so much fun. We tried out blues and black diamonds for the first time and there was no worries so we challenged ourselves.

Conquer the entire mountain. We had to hunt for a few trails and work on some (hike up hill rather than down) but we did it. We skiied for about 41/2 hours all together, but time just flew by, we were having so much fun.

A few falls by Landon, but he would get up with a smile on his face and say "Pretty cool wipe out".

There skiing kinda matches their personality.

Will a bit more serious, makes nice big turns and stays at a steady pace.

Landon, a little character with no fear, heads down the mountain with a bit of speed. He's not out of control just ready to go! He says "I turn , but just not so much".

These are the days I so enjoy. There were some great conversations on the chair lift about all kinds of things. Such wonderful bonding that I would miss if they were somewhere else learning.

I am grateful to be learning and living with them every day, all day.

Pine Wood Derby Race

William had his Pine Wood Derby Race this past Sunday. He and Eric had fun building the car together and William enjoyed painting it all by himself. He made a racing shark.

Awaiting the finish....

His car came in last every heat but this time he had a very winning attitude, which made mama and daddy proud. We'll have better luck next time.
He did receive a ribbon and had fun. Which is what counts. :)

Did I Mention?

Besides skiing we had some ice cream(Yes, it was 20 degrees out but who can pass up ice cream) and did a little tubing.

Skiing

We had such a great time. Landon started out using the harness but by the end of the week he was skiing by himself and chasing William down the mountain. They are both doing so well that we are planning on venturing out this week once again. :)
