a day at rest

We needed a day to just stay put.

We started with reading in bed.  Always a favorite.

After breakfast a little drawing time and then we(me) decide I needed to organize!

The boys worked on their kitchen area and rooms.  We gave everything a home again and filled bags full of things to get rid of.  We are running short on space, plus there is just too much stuff we don't ever use!

It always feels so good to get rid of things.  I am trying hard to just keep things we need and use often.  Simple is better.  We still have a long way to go but there was progress.
Then some playtime outside was in order and snuggling by the fire for a movie.

A good day of rest.  Ready for what tomorrow may bring!

A few snapshots of the past few days.  We have been running from here to there and hoping the rest of our week will slow down just a bit.

Sunday Smiles

hideaway

We had the little girl over the other day whom I occasionally take care of.  While I went upstairs to help the boys,  little Miss stayed downstairs keeping busy.

I sat down to read next to this pile of friends.  As I was reading there was a strange sound coming from the pile.  Hmmm.

 I looked a little closer......
closer still and to my surprise there was someone under all of that fast asleep. Guess Who?

Yes, Gritty is under there. I still can't believe she let our little friend cover her all up.  Apparently it was nice and cozy under there.

how the day goes

There was Magic Science,
 conectigons,
 drawing,
baking Gritty treats,

memory,

skateboarding,

playmobile,

reading,

thank you notes,

and lots more playing.

All is good.  Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

spring was in the air

This  post was for yesterday but I was having some technical difficulties!

With temps reaching low 50's we headed for some adventuring in the woods.

 we teased,
 we marveled,
 we found signs of Spring

 climbed trees,

we discovered owl pellets, and totally wanted to bring them home to dissect but they were really wet and we had nothing to carry them in,

I just love being in the woods. I would go there every day if not for other responsibilities. Sigh.

my girl

My sweet girl turned 10 today.

It seems like she was just coming home as a 14 lb pup.  Waking and crying in the middle of the night to be let out.  Needing all of our love and attention.  The years have been full of laughter.   Her noises, silly poses, and crazy antics whenever we arrive home always fills our hearts with joy.  She loves us unconditionally.  Always ready to snuggle up close by and keep me company while the boys are asleep and Eric is not home.  I always feel safe with her.  She has my back no matter what.

Of course there have been times(several occasions) that I get so frustrated with her.  Like when she grabs a peanut butter sandwich right out of  Landon's hand, or I turn my back just for one moment and she is up on the counter eating our dinner.  There have been many loaves of bread eaten and Tupperware thrown out.  But she is a dog and will basically eat anything given the opportunity so I can't get too angry with her.

We love her dearly and are so glad she is part of our family.  We made her day as special as we could.

Her "cake" was two cans of dog food, a special treat since she usually eats dry food,   topped with a little cream, bacon and ground beef.  She gobbled it up in a matter of seconds and totally enjoyed it.  (I am sure we will be smelling this later tonight.)

Happy Birthday Gritty!
