Sweet Home Days

The kids have always slept with us. Harkin was no exception, except that he seems to wake up a lot and moves around like crazy. Eric was just not getting a good enough sleep to function well the next day at work. Harkin and I moved into his room a few months ago. We had been sleeping on a tiny mattress. The one that came from the pull out chair and half. It was a twin, thin and I could feel the springs in my back.

We finally were able to get a new mattress. We went with a memory foam. It is pretty comfortable. Harkin loves it and loves having Mama right next to him all night long.

Here he is reading books in the early morning hours. A great way to start the day, don't ya think?

The boys were busy yesterday creating their robots for the library contest. They receive a bag from the library full of materials and have to use those materials to create their own unique robot. They do not need to use all of the materials and get to add one thing from home. We dropped them off today and all next week there will be judging going on. At the grand summer reading finale, the winners will be announced.

field days

We went to our county's field days. I was expecting a bit more animals but the boys were super excited for the rides. They hadn't ever been on several of them (the boat, bumper cars and ferris wheel) so it was such a fun day for them. It was small enough where they could go from ride to ride without me having to follow them around. I was hanging with Harkin for a bit as he tried out rides all by himself. Landon went on a few with him to get him comfortable. He thought they were so neat and kept asking for more. It was an extremely hot day so we of course cooled off with fresh squeezed lemonade and hand cut french fires. A fair classic and favorite.

While the big boys sleep in, Harkin and I quietly( well sorta) make some banana bread for a tasty treat. He wants to be right in the middle of it all. So sweet he is.
