William's Birthday Fun

Last night I was just a bit tired to  post all the fun we had on my sweet baby boy's day.  It was an early morning (5:30am) as Will was too excited to sleep.  By 6:30 he was outside using his whiplash, having opened Landon's presents.  We had breakfast and then headed off to Boston to go to the children's museum at Will's request. 

We had fun playing and climbing. It was a bit crowded due to end of the year field trips but we made the best of it.

Then we headed home by late afternoon for some outside fun while Daddy made Will's favorite dinner. Steak, french fries and Cesar salad.  It was yummy!  And of course the cake. Going on five years making the most delicious cake ever. This year Will helped with the decorating.

There was one more present to open.  Playmobile. As much as I am getting tired of it the boys absolutely love it. We spent the evening putting it together. Everyone needed to help. 

Then we read books and tried to fall asleep, but since there was some major napping in the car ride home, no one was too ready to fall asleep. Will and I instead played a late night game of Backgammon. I was beaten very badly by my now 9 year old. He is full of strategies he tells me. 

We lay in bed talking for a bit until finally sleep overcomes us. It was a very nice day for my sweet William.

the movies

We did something we very rarely ever do. We went to the movies. In the morning. On a weekday. With Daddy.

Landon had received a gift card for his birthday and was so eager to share it with us all. We just had to wait until a movie came out that he wanted to see.

So this morning at 10:30 we saw Madagascar 3. We had popcorn. It was silly and fun.

selling stuff

We had a tag sale over the weekend.  William spent a morning making all of our signs. My goal was to get rid of lots of things we have just been accumulating and to make a little extra cash.  We ended up selling quite a bit of little stuff and one big item out of the garage, but the other big things we will have try Craig's list. 

All the time that is put into organizing things, moving from one place to another kinda wore me out.  It did make me really think even more about how much stuff one can have. Is it all necessary?  I tend to spend too much time on trying to put things away rather than just enjoying time with my family.

My basement has more space. I like that. I want to keep it like that. We are working on keeping things that we truly love and are using.  Trying to let go.  I like the idea of when one thing comes in one thing must leave. I have tried to do that with the toys and such, but may even need to try a bit harder. 

The boys had fun selling the stuff and much of it was their own. They did a good job of helping and cleaning out, but I think they even realized by the end that it was a lot of work for a tag sale.

life on sundays

Today was Sunday. It was hot. My oldest complained all day about wanting to go to the pool.

But I am determined to keep Sundays for just us. To stay home and take care of things. 

We took a walk, we played games, we practiced baseball, we hung out, we ran amok outside, we laughed and giggled all night long, we made S'mores, we pruned the garden, we lived!

And it was all good.
