storm harper
OK So we got a tiny bit of snow over the weekend. Ha! Our first big storm of the new year. We have around 2 feet at the house. The boys said the skiing was epic yesterday. It all looks so pretty and we are itching to get out and play. The only problem: it was minus 10* all day today so we stayed inside and played instead. I also baked a bit today to help warm up the house. Tomorrow begins a warm spell (14*) and there are plans to spend hours out of doors. Loving winter in VT!
oh, january
A family photo shoot. Not always the easiest things these days, but I still try.
We are about to start the 4th week of the new year. Time seems to fly by these days. So what exactly have we been doing these first few weeks of 2019.
:: skiing at the mountain a few times a week. William is working there again this year
:: a little under the weather for a few of us
:: having lots of days at home to play and learn
:: trying to get into a new rhythm that works for everyone
:: working hard at staying warm, temps have been near zero several days
It has been a good three weeks and a nice start for the new year. Right now we are currently in the midst of the first BIG storm of 2019. Eric and I are home with Harkin and Issabelle; playing, cooking, cleaning, and creating. William and Landon are on the mountain, hopefully warm and fully enjoying the fresh snow.
new years eve
We did our traditional fondue. Harkin is loving helping in the kitchen these days and cut the veggies up for me. Issabelle and Harkin had more fun cooking their food than eating it. One day they will appreciate the wonders of fondue. The big boys love it as always. William made homemade canolies. Just he filling, but they were delicious! It was an early night for us this year. William was pretty sick and had to work the next day so we decided to get rest. Happy New Year. Hoping 2019 is pretty awesome!
christmas day
We had a great day at home playing with all our new toys and books. Making lots of good food and just relaxing. Eric made me "The Grinch" drink and fried snickers for desert. I made homemade biscuits that were so yummy and a lemon desert. Dinner was a delicious ham which we had plenty of for days after. Another good day in this life of ours.
christmas morning
What a fun morning it was. It went by so quickly as everyone is super excited to hand out presents and of course open them. My favorite is watching the kids hand out theirs to their siblings. They are so happy to give it makes me smile so. Lots of happiness as everyone said they got exactly what they wanted. Once we were done, we ate breakfast and then all got busy playing and using their new stuff.
Jax was content with his new bone.
christmas eve
Our day was meant to be a mellow day just relaxing. However, our dryer had other plans and we discovered a leak in the hose. Eric and the boys were able to fix it thankfully and it is working better than it has in months. I am no longer 5 feet deep in laundry. Yeah! The rest of the day we just chilled out, had dinner followed by opening a few presents from our extended family and then the traditional Night Before Christmas Reading". Everyone was super excited for Christmas morning to come.
