a blogger who does not blog

It is Friday night late. Where did my week go? I did not intend to be away from writing all week, but my days have been full and my nights have been to bed early but with many awakenings.  I will do a brief recap of the week.

Monday- A day spent home organizing, and cleaning after being away for 10 days.
Tuesday- Co-op all day long and dealing with crying baby.(not mine, but the sweet girl I babysit) Bed early. I'm sick.
Wednesday- Home. Science. Trip to Mexico through Little Passports. Dealing with crying baby. Finally making a calendar for William. Bed early again.
Thursday- Although still not feeling great, boys need a day out for fun. We go to Jump Zone. A place full of huge blow up obstacle courses. They have a great time. I knit some. Play Skip Bo before bed. Drained by the day and to bed early again.  Landon wakes with a fever.
Friday- Spend 6 hours in the car driving up and back to Vermont. We cleaned the house out of our stuff. Our season rental has come to an end.  Landon and Will listen to stories all day long. Landon goes to bed with a fever and the beginnings of pink eye. Yuck. I watch a movie with E.

I had six hours to think today. I thought of all the things I want to do but never do. I thought of the goals we need to set to get there. I thought of how I need to just get up and do more. I want to make healthy dinners more, I want to exercise more, I want to play more, I want to create more.
I can get myself into a rut and get grumpy rather easily. Thinking about all the things I do not do.
Instead I want to focus on the positive. All the wonderful things my life contains.  The only one who can make more happen is myself. I am striving for this and to be content with each moment in life. Knowing that every moment counts and is special in and of itself.

family car rides

We are here in this place that we know not too much about. There is plenty to see.  We decide to take a ride to a new place just to "check it out".

The boys don't always love car rides. The first thing they ask is "How long will it be?"  They bring books to read and color, their latest listening CD, a few small toys.  I bring my knitting.

However, as we drive we stare out the window at this wondrous world. There is talk of the houses we see, creaky old barns, mountains shaped like people, animals grazing in fields aplenty.

We stop to stretch our legs, look at the new places, and eat a meal together.

We continue on our way.  A children's Atlas that was in the car provides us with ideas.  Will quizzes us on the tree, flower, and bird of every state.  Did you know that MANY states  share the same ones? This made for some silliness.

Done with quizzing we figure out exactly how many states Mama has been to- not just driving through, they say. I need to have spent time there.  I think it was 25. Not too bad!

Moving onto a word game. How many words can we make from the word SNOWMOBILE? This was so much fun. Everyone was helping.  It lasted for an hour and we found over 90 words, plus Eric is still going at it.

At the tail end of the trip, some goofy Gritty songs were sung. She had spent the day in the car with us, but was looking rather anxious to get out.  And she was trying to eat my Coconut Cream Pie I was bringing home for desert.

A day that we weren't necessarily "doing" something but that was full of many happenings.

Happenings that we shared as a family, filled with laughter, learning and loving.

(I'm going to eat my pie now)

soaking up the sun

Hours outside, playing, breathing and new beginnings.

peace, quiet and free to be

Although we haven't been skiing the past few days I still loving being here in Vermont at this house we have rented. We still have it until the end of April and I do hope we come up quite a bit more.

The days here are just so nice.  It is a slower pace for us. I am not always feeling that I have to do something or be somewhere. Not sure why I can't carry that feeling to our real home.  We have less stuff here and seem to be doing all right.  We have this wonderful big backyard that captures many hours of our attention.  I sit outside with the boys reading, knitting and just listening.  They have gone on so many adventures -it is quite wonderful.  They come in dirty, tired and bursting with stories.  So. Much. Fun.

Eric and I are working towards a place like this. Where no one is around. Where it is quiet. Where there are lots of trees to climb and woods to roam. Where we can see the stars at night. Where we can be at peace. Where we can be free.

We keep on visualizing and hope one day it will be come a reality.

Montshire Museum of Science

We took the day off from skiing today. Really there isn't much snow left and it is all bumps, which the boys love but Mama's knees needed a little break. So instead we headed to a local science museum. The boys were excited to go. It was small but with plenty to keep us busy for the day.

We have been going to different museums for years now and it is always amazing watching them learn as they play. They were figuring things out and telling Mama just how it is.  It is truly remarkable how much one can soak up when interested.

The museum is situated on 100 acres so we headed out for a hike after lunch.  Always wonderful to be in the woods. There were stops along the way with exhibits and explanations of what was happening in nature. I thought the museum did a  great job at this.

Definitely another good day in this life of ours.

adventuring

We decided a day of adventuring was in order after our big race. So Sunday we headed out to see the local sites. It was a lovely day for driving and stopping to see all sorts of pretty cool things.

dragon sweatshirts were made by a friend of mine

 2. Glass blowing.

 3. A walk through the Path of Life Garden- this was an awesome place and we will be going back.

 4. A brewery tour- still getting those passports stamped.

5. Last was a playground but no pictures were taken. Too busy enjoying the moment.

It was quite the full day of adventuring, filled with so much joy.
