a little dress
Issabelle was very excited for her newest dress from mama. I think she wore it for a week straight. The only thing she said was that the next thing I made her should be pink. There was no pink in my stash so we were on a search for pink and found bubble gum pink. She is anxiously awaiting her next wearable from mama.
purple girl
Yes it is spring and you would think hats are no longer necessary. However our temps have been a bit cold around here and her old hats were looking, well rather, Old. So I knitted up a quick hat in a few nights time and she loves it. She wears it all day and would not take it off today when the temps finally reached 70*. Such a silly girl. But she does look adorable in it and it is a pretty awesome pattern. Two of my boys are asking for one of their own. Just not until the fall.
slow summer work
This is my sweet baby's blanket that she has yet to get. It took me along time to settle on a pattern. I tried two before finally agreeing to this one. So as our days go by this summer I will be working on it little by little and hope by the fall she will have something to snuggle with. So sorry it has taken me this long.
third time around
I made this little vest for my nieces. I had never thought it would come back to us. I am so glad it did. Issabelle loves wearing it.
springtime vest
Since Issabelle had her vest, Harkin has asked me for one for him. He picked out his color and waited ever so patiently for his to be done. Just in time for the spring weather!!
in progress
From all that colorful yarn a few weeks ago I bought some purple and am in the midst of making Issabelle a milo vest. She had one made for her by a fiend when she was born and I loved it. She wore it almost every day last winter so a new one was in order. Harkin has requested one for him in orange. That will be my next project.
oh, colorful yarn
By accident, today, we stumbled across some beautiful locally raised hand dyed yarn. While at archery one of the moms was organizing her yarn to prepare for the farmers market. I had a project in mind for Issabelle so I was able to purchase some lovely purple for a new sweater vest. Harkin was in love with all the colors and wanted one of each. I do not have a project planned for him so I said we would have to find something first and then we could purchase the colors of his choice. They both had such a grand time just looking at it all though. Issabelle loved putting the yarn back into the tubs after it was taken out for the moms to look at. I love how opportunities can present themselves like this. I was in love with all if the colors and had such a hard time resisting the urge to buy more.
a new hat
Issabelle showing off her new hat. It was a fun quick knit, in some beautifully dyed local wool. As the nights are beginning to get a bit cooler here and we are out for soccer several times a week it is going to come in handy!
the 70's chick
So I knitted Issabelle her first toy. I am using wool from my stash so it had to be a two toned bird. I only had enough of yellow for one side and thought the orange looked rather nice with it. When finished Eric and I have this strange feeling that it reminds us of something from the 70's. But it's cute and she likes it. Which is what matters most.
a knitted dress
I finished a dress for Issabelle. It is a little big but will hopefully last for a long time. It will become more like a sweater in the colder months. She was more than happy to give me a little photo shoot to show it off. She LOVES to sit up and see all that is going on and was so happy to feel the grass in her toes and even pulled some out. Harkin was running around the tree so she was all giggles for him.
knitted pants
I knitted Issabelle a pair of pants. Something I have never made before. They are really cute, I just don't think they are going to fit her for long. Maybe they can be a kinda capri under a sundress as she grows. We'll see. The part around the ankle may not fit around her thighs. She does happen to have very chunky legs- but oh, so cute.
the newest sweater or house coat
I finished this sweater/coat for Harkin just last week. It had been slow going, since I started in August. I kept taking breaks. For the holidays, the baby and such. He absolutely loves it and wants to wear it every day. I was afraid it would be too small when in actuality it is a bit big. It falls off the shoulders. I think I will add another button closer to the top so it stays on better. It will be good for a spring type jacket, but for now we are calling it his house coat. An extra layer while the temps are below zero is always nice.
friends who knit too
It is so nice to have friends who knit. While I love to knit, I am knitting for four kids and have virtually no time at the moment, so this little sweater in the mail yesterday was such a wonderful surprise. It is a beautiful lavender color and fits Issabelle so nicely. She will be wearing it regularly. It is much easier to put on her than the sweater I made her since there are no sleeves. Thank you so much Kim!!!
the new knits
I believe Issabelle was waiting to enter our family until she had her very own knits made by Mama. I finished the booties on Sunday afternoon and then went into labor that night. The hat and booties fit her perfect while the sweater will give her lots of room to grow , so it should last the winter. She is wearing them pretty much every day to keep her nice and warm while the thermometer reads the single digits.
new beginnings
Slowly, two rows at a time and hoping that by January our sweet girl will have her blanket ready to use when she joins our family. However, if history repeats itself I will finish shortly after she is born. All my babes received their blanket just a little while after their birth. Life is like that. Time can slip away from us but I am enjoying every moment that is now. I love working with this yarn and the yellow just pops against the cream. Loving the fact that it is all local yarn as well.
little red hat
I finished a new hat for Harkin a few weeks ago. It is just like his big brothers, only smaller. He loves putting it on all by himself. He is getting to be so independent these days. I am currently working on a sweater to match. Hoping it gets done sooner than later.
the newest hat
It may seem rather strange that I am still knitting hats since it is spring, or so the calendar says so. However the Northern Vermont weather does not agree. We still are having chilly enough days that warrants a warm head. This hat will match the jacket I finished a few weeks ago. He loves wearing hats all the time anyways. He does look good in them too!
a finished jacket; finally
This jacket was started almost 3 years ago , I think. It was originally intended for William, but since time has gone by, there has been a lot of growing and it was going to be too small. I had really finished the knitting part awhile ago and just let it sit as it needed to be all sewn together and then a zipper put in, which I had never done.
Thankfully he was not overly upset by the fact that it would be going to Landon. Landon liked the colors which was also good. So we have a spring jacket which should also last all of next winter, and then will be put aside for Harkin in years to come.
