sunday smiles
This little man has loved reading this summer and is going through book series like crazy. He absolutely loves it!
another lake day
You can tell it is late august as the lake was deserted. We had it to ourselves and had a wonderful day. The air was a bit chilly but it still didn't stop them from swimming and playing all day. We had a bit of wind so we tried out the kites for a little bit. I am glad we are able to get there now and again.
out for a haircut
After forever we went and got her a haircut. It is so much shorter but our amazing hairdresser was still able to put it into two braids for her. She loved them and kept them in for a few days. When we took them out it was a surprise as to how short it really was. She looks super cute, though a bit older. :(
rail trail
Landon has been wanting to ride the entire rail trail for a couple of years now. Him and his friend finally made it happen on Friday. They started in our town and then rode to the end which was where his friend lives. It took them about an hour and half and they said it was tons of fun.
blueberry picking
We went for our annual blueberry picking this week. We had a fun time but I think we went a little late in the day as we were hot and didn't quite get as many as we usually do. Hopefully it will last us for awhile like past years.
story walk
My girl and I spent a little time on our towns' story walk. She loved having me read aloud while we were walking the trail. She loves being in nature she told me and we saw so many wildflowers we haven't seen before and heard bullfrogs since we were near wetlands. A nice little afternoon walk:)
bridge of flowers
We went to the library for the final reading program. The kids did an obstacle course, got to throw water balloons at the librarians and came home with two new books and a bag of goodies. We then took a walk through town to the bridge that goes over the waterfall. We drive by this almost every time we leave the house but have never been. It was a cute little excursion for the morning!
teammates
After months of no activities the boys have begun playing soccer again. They were pretty excited and I was too because they are both playing on the same team. Most likely the last time that will ever happen.
snap circuits
The library has these awesome bags to check out full of cool activities. This one had a snap circuit kit inside and it was a totally fun learning activity. Harkin spent days on it and then Izzy got a few chances to try before we had to return it. I think we will definitely have to check it out again.
caught reading
Harkin's reading has just taken off this summer. He is reading a book a day almost. It is so awesome to see him get so excited to be off on an adventure in stories. He is also so willing to read aloud to us and especially Izzy.
Right now he is working his way through the Geranamo Stilton series. There are over 100 books and he has read 15 of them already. He has had to stop to read a few series we have gotten from the library, Flat Stanley and a new one called Dragon Keepers. It is so awesome!
golfing date
Eric and I were able to get away for the afternoon and do some golfing. I haven't golfed in over 17 years!! It was great to be nestled in the mountains - the weather was not too hot- just right. We had fun and then were able to get a bite to eat before heading back home.
mountain biking : stowe area
We headed out for another day of mountain biking. This one was a bit tougher than last time. There was much more walking uphill( mainly Izzy and Mama) but the downhill flow tracks were both fun and terrifying- more for mama than anyone else. A fun day out int he woods again:)
kayaking
Harkin and I were able to spend a morning this past week out on our kayaks. We had such a nice time. He was super excited that we went all the way across the lake, fighting the wind and waves. It was a wonderful way to spend some time with my big man.
