landon's story

So since I have been inconsistent with the blog for the past several years, I want to go back and add things that have happened so I have them for my record and memories.

Landon graduated in 2024 from our homeschool. He had a record year with soccer and became one of the top scorers for his school. It was a pretty awesome feat.  He also had his 18th birthday that year which we celebrated in Montreal. The last birthday I was able to actually spend with him. The past two he has been away :(

He took a year and went to Spain to play at an academy and for a Spanish club. Hardest thing I have ever done was send one of my kids overseas. I cried for the first two months every night. He did not come home until May.  Such a wonderful day when he walked in that door. Of course it was an amazing experience for him and I eventually got used to not having him around.

He was home for the summer and then off to school in West Virginia. This year he has been able to come home for the holidays, which was great.

Yesterday he turned 20!! So sad I couldn't be there to celebrate but he was in school. He said it was just another day. Boys!!

He will be home in three weeks for the summer, playing on a local team. It will be great to have him home again, although he will be busy with work, but just knowing he is asleep under our roof makes me happy.

day of soccer

Harkin and I spent a great day together over the weekend. We woke up extremely early and headed down to MA.

His club was participating in the New England day at the Revolution. His team played two mini games against teams from New Hampshire and Maine. They won both. We had a full day to explore the stadium and went to the top of the lighthouse where we could see the entire stadium and the Boston skyline. It was pretty amazing.

Then we got to watch the MLS game. CF Montreal vs New England Revolution. It was a super fun experience although a little chilly for the beginning of April :(

It was fun to have the day with Harkin. He'll be grown before I know it and out of the house like his big brothers.

printmaking

Izzy went to a printmaking class where she was able to design and cut her own print. It came out so amazing. Her Adi dog, she said.

best best man

The real reason we had to fly out to the Chicago area was for William's best friends wedding. He was the best man and we were so excited to be a part of the celebration. The wedding was beautiful. We are so happy for Patrick and Abby and wish them many years of happiness. William was an amazing best man, keeping everything in order and made a wonderful best man speech. It was a great to see hm, although way too short.

first trip

So William is about to be 23 years old in a couple of months.  Eric and I have been focused on our family for all these years and just really never felt the need or that it was the right time to go away by ourselves.  We've had dates and time alone but never for an overnight.

Izzy said she would be fine, so my sister and husband came to hang out with her and Harkin while Eric an I flew to Chicago and spent some time in Wisoncisn and Illinois. It wouldn't have been our first choice of places but we had a wedding to attend (Patrick and Abby) so we gave it a try.

We relaxed, slept, walked, saw Lake Michigan and drove around to all the cute little towns out there. We just had fun hanging out together. Did a little bowling, which I won all 5 games!

Everyone survived and so we are thinking bigger trip next year for our 30th! We'll see where we are at but ideas are flowing....
