christmas eve

We spent the day just hanging at home relaxing. We had a cocktail dinner and watched The Grinch and then ended the evening with our tradition of Daddy reading the Night Before Christmas.

Everyone super excited for the morning to come.

gingerbread cookies

I made gingerbread cookies but wanted to do something different and therefore dipped them in dark chocolate. They may not have looked the best but tasted pretty good.

 

gingerbread houses

 We spent the better part of the day baking, mixing and finally decorating gingerbread houses. They actually stayed together and everyone had fun with the surprise candies that daddy picked out. This was the first time Izzy and Harkin had ever made one so they were SO into it! The boys did a great job, taking their time and really putting a lot of thought into it.

Brotherly trust. Landon asked Will to cut his hair and it went surprisingly well.

 

frosted trees

Landon kept himself busy this week making these awesome macaroon trees. They are super tasty and he was very intent while making them. I always love seeing my kids at work.

gramma in a box

Trying to make December fun I tried out a subscription box called "Gramma in a Box". Will joked that Grammy was teleporting to visit us- if only. Anyhow it is prebaked cookies to decorate and other candy projects to make. They all had fun making them and I didn't have to go searching for special items that we would need. 

It was cute and I haven't decided if we will continue, they all think it is worth it but since we love to bake anyhow I am not sure. We'll see. 

For a cold December morning it was a fun activity.

decorating the tree

 William and Landon brought the tree inside by themselves and then worked together to put the lights on. Once they were set everyone had their own pile of ornaments to put up on the tree. It was a very pleasant afternoon. No bickering or tears at all this year. Who hoo!! At the end the tree looked great. Lots of ornaments and so much fun to see them all over again each year.
