thanksgiving day

It was a good day at home. I know we are home every day so in order to make it a little bit extra special we used china and silver to make it fancy. I used my grandmas china which was fun. Issabelle was excited and helped me set the table- twice.

We had a take out lunch of the traditional meal from Jay peak since I am an employee and then I spent the afternoon cooking. I had help from everyone this year. Landon peeled the onions, Izzy and Will peeled potatoes, Izzy made the cranberry sauce and Harkin made pumpkin pie and whipped cream.

The kids played all afternoon and I took a walk with Will in the woods right before dinner. Dinner was yummy and just the right amount. We ended the evening with a movie.

A good day and we have much to be thankful for although it is a crazy time in our world-a warm place to sleep, a job to provide food and clothes,  and the love and comfort of our family.

pumpkin cookies

Issabelle spent  a Sunday afternoon making cookies with mama. She had such a great time frosting them and they were a big hit around here.  Little moments that I love.

bike riding

Out for adventures with her new ponies. The fun she has... and yes this was November- we had a heat wave for a day and now it is snowing!

exciting mail day

Flat Stanley returns to Vermont after his adventures in Connecticut. Having to quarantine made his stay a little longer but he had a good time and Harkin loved reading all about Stanley's time with his cousins. Along with Stanly arrived lots of pony friends. Issabelle was super excited. She loves having big cousins who share things with her.  It was an exciting day in our house.

our first snow

day 1

day 2

We had snow already. The first day it was only a sprinkling and then the next day it was almost a foot. Crazy two days of cold weather and then in only a day it had melted all away and we had 65* weather. Such a tease.

ice skating lessons

An unexpected gift fell into our lap. One of William's friends' sister met Izzy at a soccer game and decided she needed to giver her a coupon she had won for a free year of ice skating lessons.

Izzy was beyond excited to go and surprised both herself and me that she didn't need to use the crate thing to help her stand up. She has only been on skates 2 times before this. She absolutely loves it. She has gone two times already and counts the days to her next lesson.

This will last until the end of February so hopefully she will still be as excited by the end. She has asked Daddy to take her and also was hoping William could take her once, since he can drive:)

comets

Harkin is using a subscription box to study space and this month was all about comets. We made a sweet treat that represented what they are. A mix of snow, ice and dust- chocolate cookies crumble with white chocolate covering! He had fun making them and everyone enjoyed them!

halloween happenings

We opted for no door to door trick or treating this year. Instead two days before Halloween we got to go to the library and see one of Izzy's favorite characters and get a bag of treats and crafting materials.

Then on Halloween night we made a fun dinner of mummy dogs, skeleton fingers and guts. They also all got dressed up just for their mama's sake. Then to end the night we got a nice surprise from our neighbors, they stopped by with a huge box of candy for everyone. I think it was more candy then they have ever had and some of it was new to them. It was super exciting and made our night.

sunday smiles

Another meet up with our friends in the woods. It's the place to be these days.
