The other day I was trying to find some cute note cards to use for a project we were doing. My sister-in -law makes all of her own and they are so cute. She is planning on showing me how one day. Then I began thinking. It would be another thing that would take time and I already have so many projects and interests, I do not need any more. Keep it simple. I did a little search on the computer and discovered that there are lots of people who make really cute things and are willing to share them for free. So why not take advantage of this lovely little gift? One less thing for me to do.
We found these adorable ones to start with. I am sure there are plenty more out there that I will adore and use.
Here's a link to the website I got these from. LollyChops
wonders at home
During this past week our life has been altered slightly. We are enjoying more time at home. We are taking pleasure in the little things and grateful for all that we have. We are slowing down.
Simple pleasures such as:
:: moving the basketball hoop so it is higher and more challenging
:: making my first homemade pretzels
:: watching Landon make Gritty treats, such concentration trying to decide what cookie cutter to use next
:: learning from the T.V. together, the new favorite -World's Toughest Fixes
:: finding new cloths for Will for $1.00 each
:: playing with new to us blocks over and over
:: spending time with my sweet girl
:: loving that I bought two Trek bikes at a tag sale for 5.00 each and they work!
racing season
Our BMX season is upon us. There was so much anticipation to the first race. We arrived and survived. Both boys pedaled so hard. They both placed pretty well in their races. This is good. They are proud of themselves and so excited for the next 4 1/2 months. Yes 4 1/2 months of racing. Almost as long as our skiing season. But much hotter.
It is a long night for us all. It is not always easy for Eric and I to sit around for the 4 hours that we are at the track. We try our best to offer opportunities that the boys crave and support them in what they love. Every race is 40 seconds of me holding my breath, watching closely, hoping they are are safe till the finish line.
Seeing them cross that line with smiles on their faces makes it all the better. These are my babies and they are growing rapidly.
Much the same as we are their support during the race , we're their support all the way through life. We will be on the sidelines always and meet them at the finish, wherever that may be.
May Day
We were invited to participate in the May Day celebration at the school that we are taking our art enrichment program. The boys were a bit unsure at first. Very curious with questions. I did not have much to say except give it a chance.
We got there. I saw the May pole. I saw all the flowers. Oh the lilacs, how I love love love their scent! Memories came flashing back to me. Going out early in the morning to pick lilacs from our front yard bush, wrapping them in paper towels and aluminum foil. Carrying them on the bus. Being ever so careful not to crush them. It was always such an exciting day. We would hike out to the back field by the sea and have our May Day celebration. Lilacs have been my favorite flower ever since.
I am so glad that the boys had an opportunity to participate in one. They were a bit apprehensive but I think they had a good time making their crowns and dancing and singing.
