hospital photos and thoughts

Our visit was a quick one this time. We came home only 24 hours after Harkin was born- yeah! So with me being exhausted and the short amount of time we only took a few pictures at the hospital. Fine with me as there will be plenty more as the days go on.

The hospital was so different than what we were used to. It has only two floors, the top one being the birthing center. There were only about 20 rooms and only 3-4 were being used at any given time.  The hallways were quiet. I never felt like I was even at a hospital. The nurses left you be, unless you really needed them. They respected our wishes and didn't keep on asking us the same questions over and  over.  I was so happy they were fine with us leaving so quickly. In the past we have had to stay several days. I am much happier at home. Having this baby in an entirely new place, it helped that the hospital experience was a positive one.

  1. Aren't small hospitals lovely? My girls were born at a small hospital as well and we loved every minute of it! The nurses were very laid back and no one pushed anything on us. I wish that for every mama and papa and am so glad that was your experience with this little one!

I am so excited for you! Looking forward to all that is to be shared here as you journey through life as a family of five!

  5. I just love the picture of your 3 boys! Look at those proud big brothers!!!

After having my first two at a major L&D hospital and feeling like I was just another number in a baby factory, I swore I'd never deliver in a hospital again. With our move and some health complications on my end I had Magnus at a smaller (though by standards still pretty big) hospital, and had a fabulous experience! I think the fact that 40% of births there are by midwives has a lot to do with the more personalized and respectful care.

I'm so glad you had a positive experience and were able to get home so quickly! I personally find it much easier to recover at home.
