new foods

We joined our first CSA this year, which I am so excited about. We picked up our first share yesterday and got a wonderful box of fresh picked fruits and veggies.

I have never eaten swiss chard before so am looking go for recipes to try it with.  I found one online for beans, tomatoes, and garlic sauteed with olive oil. It tasted great and everyone had a bite - I had a few more than all the boys. Definitely something I would eat again.

I am looking forward to trying out lots of new food this summer!

Any suggestions for recipes would be great also.

  4. Happy CSAing! It's a little overhwelming at first but totally an incredible experience! Freeze lots for the winter and if you do not already know the art of canning I highly recommend a class. I took one last summer (our second year with a CSA) and it was so much fun and super easy! I wish I had learned this skill long ago! Enjoy, but be warned, once you taste fresh local food, it's hard to go back! :)

Love the new blog banner and the new font on your blog. Just gorgeous!

  5. Strawberry Rhubarb pie is of course one of the things we will make- just for dad this weekend.

Thanks Shel about the banner and font. I was playing around with things and there is so many to choose from. It was fun. Our farmers market is doing a series on canning- I may have to check it out.
